Day 4 - 31st August

 Day 4 - 31 Aug, 2022

Nambucca Heads - as we got up, the bats returned from their noisy night out.

Wharf street cafe.

Started by asking what on the menu was local. Had the owner come chat to us. Excelllent “zingy corn” with pork belly, and eggs benedict. Sasha had a bacon and egg roll and polished it all off.

The owner also brought out giant tasty strawberries for Nastya, and bread to feed the fish off the wharf - everyone’s morning was made.

Playground across the road.  On the road by about 12.

First stop was the big banana. We tried to get into the big Nana energy, but the spirit was very hard to tap into. Old, dated.  Everything in the gift shop was made in China.

All food products were primarily sugar. No need to return.

From there it was off to Lismore, on roads that papa found familiar. He even pointed out at least one former home from 26 years ago.

We visited Belinda and Luke in east Lismore on a very steep block on the top of the hill.

From there you can see a large chunk of the town, and it was difficult to fathom the extent of the recent floods, but even in this traditionally safe side of town, there were many homes and businesses that went under.

Sasha was suitably impressed with Luke’s custom Lego collection. Thea and Aubrey and Sasha were chuffed to have some cousin time. Bed time was predictably un-smooth with 4 under 4 in the house, but somehow, Nastya slept through it all.

Thanks for having us!
