Day 5 - 1st September
Day 5 - 1st September
Lismore to Brisbane.
Morning cousin play.
After bidding east Lismore goodbye, we drove to the central area. So many buildings still closed.
We walked past the library, where people were pressure washing the inside of the second storey.
One lane of the main Keen street was closed, with deeper hidden gutters being installed.
D bought a memory card from a camera shop that was without the usual shop fittings, and had a swampy smell. The flood water damage line was still visible - way above where the ceiling should have been - almost at the roof line.
We met a vlogger who was about to drop serious pennies on a lens for his channel - the weedy garden.
Henry’s bakery for brunch (lemon tart, carrot cake, meat pie and veg pie), delicious, like last time, though the coffee was served at a Regional temperature.

Walked down past the Gollan (still closed and mostly gutted), down the block towards the south Lismore bridge, where we bought guitar strings from an obviously affected music store.
Every second or third shop was still closed, but there was a sense of enthusiasm to get back to it… we wish them luck.
A brief Stop at Bex Hill to see the open air cathedral

A beautiful peacefulness.
The drive to Brisbane was peppered with traffic, every 10ks it seemed there was another road plant, and the 2 hour trip took over 4.
We moved our stay to Cleavland, meaning we could catch up with Mick, Linda and Isaac for fish and chips - ‘twas good for the soul.
A wonderful catch-up
