Day 9 - 5th Sept - Noosa
Day 9 - 5th Sept
We all walked to Noosa’s main beach and found a shady park bench overlooking the luxurious sand. A bush turkey came to say hello, and the kids had some shallow paddling.
Papa and Sasha had a go at making a sandcastle before the sun (which had not been forecast to be strongly shining) had us turning for the gelato shop. Massimo’s - fairly traditional flavours - average quality, a slightly aggressive “NO TASTING” written under the flavour list, should have been a clue to walk a block further and find something better.
After a meander home (where we successfully avoided carrying Mr 3), it was almost time to get to our sunset river cruise.
We were first aboard, and our jovial captain extended a brand of warm larrikin hospitality that was equal parts cheeky, knowledgeable and verbacious.
In between pointing out the architecture that won awards, boats that may be flouting laws banning “house boats”, showing us where some of the Bachelor and Bachelorette tv show houses were, Quoting astronomical prices, and snide comments about owners that offer “one finger salutes” when they are waved at by tourists - there was some history of the various wins against planned over-development, wildlife info and river mouth and land changes.
On one section Captain Mr 3 helped steer the boat.
Cheese, beer and cider was enjoyed, and though the sunset was a little in underwhelming, the experience was worthwhile and entertaining - totally would do again
